Content Curation: Conversation about the new must-have skill for communicators

You are invited to an IABC Conversations lunch on May 17 at Alamo Café on 281 near Bitters with Susan Young, a social media, news, PR, & communication professional. This is an informal gathering anyone who wants to talk over lunch about what’s being called the new must-have skill for communicators—content curation. Susan has served as content curator for one of the trailblazers in this profession, ragan.com.

Reservations are not required, but we’d appreciate knowing if you plan to attend so we can estimate our attendance. You don’t have to pay in advance by credit card for the same lunch everyone else is going to be eating. The cost of your lunch will not cover any dining room rental, AV equipment, or support of chapter expenses. We won’t sit at a big table that makes it hard to talk to others, and you won’t be silent most of the time listening to a presenter.

What you will get instead is a better opportunity to get to know other San Antonio communicators through a conversation that is more specific to each of our individual interests with true two-way dialogue. Consider it a real-life social network. That’s better for learning and forming professional relationships. Please join us.

IABC Conversations – a new format for 2012

Join us on February 9th at Stonewerks at Basse and Broadway. Noon – 1 p.m.

Over the next few months, our IABC San Antonio monthly luncheon is going on hiatus to make room for something we think will be more dynamic, useful and fun. An “IABC Conversation” will be a less formal gathering of whoever wants to get together over lunch. We’ll talk about what’s happening in our jobs and our careers with other communicators who may face the same challenges and have some knowledge to share.

So what’s changing? You won’t reserve a spot and pay in advance by credit card for the same lunch everyone else is going to be eating. The cost of your lunch will not cover any dining room rental, AV equipment, or support of chapter expenses. We won’t sit at a big table that makes it hard to talk to others, and you won’t be just listening to a presenter.

What you will get instead is a better opportunity to get to know other San Antonio communicators and talk with local experts with insights to help you improve in your job. You might tap into the hidden job market. Consider it a real-life social network.

Everyone is welcome.Just RSVP so we can know if a reservation is necessary. Then just show up. If there are four of us, we’ll sit at a small table, and if there are 20, we’ll split up among several tables.
